HCS MDs Ben and Kirstin Hatherley picked up the trophy from First Choice MD John Whitehouse and Catering Insight editor Clare Nicholls.

Catering Insight’s Service & Maintenance Provider of the Year Award category, sponsored by the First Choice Group, was open to both specialist service companies and distributors that operate dedicated service businesses.

This category was a tight vote, with just three votes separating the top three, but Hatherley Commercial Services (HCS) came out triumphant.

HCS was rewarded for investing in new vans for its engineers, and the firm’s cutting edge service software has kept the office and customers up to date instantly.

Working to overcome the constant difficulty of recruiting engineers, MD Kirstin Hatherley is also chair of a group of employers looking to create an apprenticeship standard for a commercial catering equipment technician.

The distributor has worked hard to keep school and care home kitchens up and running throughout the Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire region, with a 24-hour call out service.

HCS’s MD Kirstin Hatherley collected the accolade and commented: “A lot of hard graft has gone into this year, so this win great.

“It actually caps off a good decade. We work really hard; we are a brother and sister company and it means everything to us. To win an award like this with our family name it means an awful lot.”
