Williams has revealed the latest developments to its Greenlogic initiative.

Refrigerator manufacturer Williams is showing how it is tackling sustainability targets with its latest Greenlogic initiative.

Greenlogic covers every aspect of Williams’ operation, from product design to sourcing raw materials and components, to manufacturing and plant, to transport and distribution.

The company has set out details of green activities, plans and objectives in its Greenlogic Guide.

Malcolm Harling, sales and marketing director at Williams said: “There is huge interest in sustainability and climate change in the hospitality market right now. Operators and dealers are asking about manufacturers’ green credentials, they want to understand the science behind the statistics. Our Greenlogic initiative is designed to give them those answers and demonstrate how responsible manufacturing can help meet their own environmental commitments.”

A key part of the Greenlogic initiative is to inform and offer advice to customers and business partners about how Williams is meeting its environmental targets. Part of the guide is an FAQ section answering a diverse range of questions, covering issues ranging from energy efficiency to WEEE and end of service life processes.

Williams has a history of working for a greener future –in the 1980s it was the first foodservice refrigeration manufacturer to use CFC-free insulation. In 2009 Williams achieved ISO 14001 environmental management certification across all of its manufacturing plants (UK, Australia and China), for the design, manufacture and installation of refrigeration products.

In 2013 the company’s waste reduction initiative achieved ‘zero to landfill’ status. In 2015 the company installed 2,298 photovoltaic panels at its Kings Lynn head office, at the time one of the largest rooftop installations in Europe.

The Williams Greenlogic Guide offers an insight that focuses on the initiative’s three core areas: product, plant and processes. It also delves into current regulations and legislation, including F gas and energy labelling, and offers an indication of the company’s plans for the future.

Harling said: “Greenlogic is integral to our corporate social responsibility policies. It’s our commitment to supplying the most energy efficient and sustainable refrigeration possible.”
