Distributor offloads surplus kit through auction

More than 300 lots of new commercial catering equipment will be put on auction next week during a three-day online sale that could see buyers get their hands on cut-price kitchen kit.

Auction specialists Pro Auction will be overseeing the sale of refrigeration cabinets, gastronorm counters, gas ranges, undercounter coolers and catering wares on behalf of an unnamed distributor that is looking to exit those product lines as part of a change in focus.

“The distributor wants to move away from dealing with the low-end catering and refrigeration equipment market towards the bulk side of it —aisle cabinets and things like that is their core business,” explained Mark Flynn, chief auctioneer and director at the company.

Equipment from brands such as Lincat, True, Rubbermaid, Affinox and American Range all feature in the sale, with each item brand new, boxed and under original manufacturers’ warranty.

The sale is set to take place online on the 27th 28th and 29th March 2012, with a viewing at the distributor’s warehouse facility in Buckingham, Milton Keynes on 26th March between 10am and 3pm.

“Pro Auction holds regular sales of catering equipment — both new and used — on instructions from the sellers,” added Flynn. “We are not dealers and do not trade equipment. We merely assist our clients with the sale of surplus assets as a result of strategic changes in the vendor’s business or due to closure of operations.”
