CEDA donates to charity in memory of Peter Hansen

Fundraising at this year’s CEDA Conference means that a cheque for £1,850 has been donated to Cancer Research UK in memory of Peter Hansen.

Peter, who was only 57 when he passed away in January, had been involved with CEDA since he was a teenager, attending meetings and taking on an active role in the family business.

A former colleague said: “CEDA was always a big part of the Hansen family’s life; I remember in the early days how Tom, Mona and Peter would look forward to the CEDA conference every year.”

Talking about Peter and the CEDA fundraising, Peter Kay, CEDA technical support said: “I had known Peter for many years and it was a great shock to CEDA and the wider industry that he died earlier this year. He made a big contribution to CEDA and our industry in terms of his character and personality, and the business approach that Hansens adopted.

“I am delighted that CEDA fundraising during our annual conference has made an excellent donation to Cancer Research UK following the wishes of his family.”

A thank you letter from Simon O’Leary, head of volunteer fundraising at Cancer Research UK underlines the importance of fundraising for cancer research. It says: “The generosity of supporters like the Catering Equipment Distributors Association enables Cancer Research UK to lead the world in discovering and developing newer, kinder treatments and to get closer to cures.”
