Winterhalter’s services arm passes safety trial

Winterhalter’s UK service division has been accredited by SAFEcontractor, a programme which recognises high standards of health and safety practice among UK contractors.

Winterhalter’s service division offers a variety of maintenance programmes, covering all types and most brands of warewasher. It claims that its nationwide network of engineers offer a ‘first time fix’ rate of over 90%.

Under the SAFEcontractor system, businesses undergo a vetting process, which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Those companies meeting the high SAFEcontractor standard are included on a database, which is accessible to registered users via a website.

“Joining the SAFEcontractor scheme reflects our commitment to raising the standard of the service we supply, a key aspect of which is following the best possible health and safety procedures,” says Paul Crowley, marketing manager of Winterhalter UK. “We expect SAFEcontractor accreditation to enhance our ability to attract new contracts.”

John Kinge, head of risk at SAFEcontractor, insists that major organisations can no longer run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies.

“More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Winterhalter has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example, which hopefully will be followed by more companies within the hospitality sector,” he stated.
