An events venue based in the heart of London’s legal quarter has revamped its warewashing set-up after buying in new kit from Winterhalter.
The Inner Temple, one of the four ancient Inns of Court and currently a prestigious venue for weddings and receptions, was forced to splash out on new equipment after its previous system was no longer up to the job.
The venue can host up to 1,000 guests at a time, so Nelson Catering Equipment was called on to fit a Winterhalter MTR multi-tank conveyor dishwasher system capable of handling the huge volume of crockery it regularly generates.
Vicky Portinari, head of catering at the Inner Temple, said the new system would be particularly useful for banquets, where there are often hundreds of diners and at least four plates per cover. “When it comes to warewashing, we need absolute reliability and the cleaning results have to be outstanding,” she said.
Before deciding on the Winterhalter MTR, Portinari said her team weighed up the different options available to it.
“We had had the previous machine for eight years and it had become unreliable. Worse, we were having problems getting service and spares, despite it being a major brand. After-sales support was a key buying criterion and Winterhalter showed they could deliver. We also compared the sustainability credentials of the different manufacturers’ models. Winterhalter scored well overall in terms of water and energy savings and longevity.”
As well as the machine itself, Winterhalter supplied racking and tabling, as the whole wash area was upgraded. “With the old system we had problems with racks bumping and breaking crockery. The new layout works very efficiently, said Portinari.
