Tableware specialist Utopia has introduced a toughened Revival 20oz glass for craft beer.
With a wide body and stout form the glass stacks perfectly when not in use. It has a large bowl and narrow top to trap the beer’s aromatics while the flared lip is suitable for the beer drinking experience. The design is also said to enhance proper head retention.
For safety, the Revival series is constructed from tempered glass, which is rapidly cooled during the manufacturing process lock as much stress as possible into the surface. This stress acts as a protective skin and should make the glass more resistant to damage. The result is toughened glass which is up to five times stronger than standard glass.
If a toughened glass breaks it shatters into small pieces, similar to when a car windscreen breaks, rather than into sharp shards. This should ensures that the risks of serious cut injury are minimised, and no whole portion of the glass would be left in the hand.
Alongside the new Revival design, Utopia has a selection of styles available in toughened glass. Prices for the toughened Revival 20oz glass start at £28.32 for a box of 24.
