The British Grand Prix earlier this month saw Worthing-based dealer, Utensils Direct, score a swift contract.

At the Silverstone race circuit, one of the F1 teams required two new warewashers for the huge trucks that are part of its headquarters during races.

The only time the trucks stop moving is when they are at a Grand Prix or home after the season’s racing.

Therefore the distributor delivered two Meiko UPster U500 undercounter dishwashers to the Silverstone site on the Thursday before the race practice began.

The appliances were then installed the following Monday after the race and commissioned by Meiko on the Tuesday, before the convoy headed off to the Hungarian Grand Prix.

“The team installed the machines themselves,” said Utensils Direct MD, John Baxter.

“As you might expect, security was extremely tight and we had to pre-register the delivery vehicle and the driver to gain access.

“I did enquire as to whether they needed water treatment systems to go along with the dishwashers, but the water supply to the trailers is already fully softened.”
