Unwanted Olympic kit goes under the hammer

Hundreds of items of ex-Olympic catering equipment will go under the hammer this week.

Mid West Catering Equipment, the second-hand equipment arm of hire specialist PKL, has been selling off Olympic stock at discounted prices over the past six months.

It now hopes to shift a further 600 products that are surplus to requirements by auctioning them off.

The auction, arranged by auction house Hilditch Group, will take place at MW’s Swindon office on Thursday.

Viewing begins from Wednesday between 10am and 6am, as well as from 9am on the morning of the sale.

All lots are sold as seen, with removal of items required by 4pm on Friday 1 February.

There is a wide range of kitchen and refrigeration equipment in the sale, including Dualit soup kettles, Williams rear-loading mobile refrigeration, Caterlux hot cupboards, Angelo Po prep machines and Falcon ranges.

Hilditch Group marketing chief Barney Greig said recently that the auction would provid buyers with a chance to get hold of quality equipment at a “fraction” of its new price, with many items only seeing minimal action.

Hilditch was founded in 1990 and today classes itself as the UK’s leading auctioneers of commercial catering equipment. It counts companies such as BT, Armada Finance, Manitowoc and R H Hall among its customer base.
