Unox picks up major equipment contract with UK’s biggest coffee chain


Unox has been awarded a contract to supply Costa Coffee with state-of-the-art convection ovens.

The 2,000-strong UK coffee shop chain, which last week revealed it was the subject of a £3.9 billion takeover bid by Coca-Cola, has signed a three-year agreement with Unox, which manufactures a range of cooking equipment from its base in Italy. 

The tie-up will see Unox’s BAKERLUX SHOP.Pro convection ovens installed in Costa stores around the country after their sleek design and exceptional baking results impressed Costa’s equipment buying team.

Gary Nunn, managing director of Unox UK, said the deal follows 12 months of trials with the chain.

“After working with Costa over the past year we are delighted to have secured this contract and look forward to working closely with them in the future,” he commented.

Neither party has indicated how many stores the ovens are likely to be rolled out to, but the agreement is nationwide.

Unox currently supplies the same model to a number of other high street casual dining stores.

Last month Unox announced that Duncan Parsonage had recently joined the team at in the role of business development chef.

He will support customers by assisting with menu and recipe development, working on food trials and further product development.
