UK manufacturer Counterline is to supply 12 counters and grab and go displays for each of two Australian ferries, TT Line’s Spirit of Tasmania 1 and 2.
The £500,000 servery contract was won through Southampton-based marine interior specialist Trimline, which will be undertaking the refurbishment at a shipyard in Tasmania in August.
Counterline is experienced in this sector, having previously supplied equipment for oil platforms, merchant ships, cruise ships and cross-Channel ferries.
Peter Wills, Counterline’s sales director commented: “With the obvious challenges of installing a scheme of this magnitude on the opposite side of the world, Trimline needed assurance that it was partnering a company capable of delivering.
“We see it as a particular tribute to be awarded the contract, cementing many months of design and tender negotiations.
“Counterline’s and Trimline’s shop floor production facilities ensure the necessary expertise and resource to overcome and conquer any challenges presented, be it technical or timeframe.”
Counterline has developed many display solutions over the years specifically tailored for the harsh marine environment and standards of hygiene essential for the prevention of bacteria contamination spread, notoriously prevalent in close quarter living conditions at sea.
