The organisers of Hotelympia have revealed some of the star names from the catering world who are booked to headline next year’s show.
Celebrated chef Giorgio Locatelli, the UK’s best known restaurant manager Fred Sirieix, and revered food critic Fay Maschler will all take to ‘The Stage’ during the course of the five-day event at London ExCeL.
The Stage has traditionally served as a hub for insight, competitions and a meeting of minds, and will once again become the focal point by paying host to a number of one-on-one interviews, seminars, panel discussions, international competitions and awards ceremonies.
Sunday will see the British Hospitality Association’s (BHA) chief executive, Ufi Ibrahim, present its campaign for cutting VAT, while Monday will see Locatelli talk about The Clink charity — an initiative to train prisoners in the art of cooking and front-of-house service to allow them to have meaningful employment opportunities when they are released.
Also scheduled for Monday is Fred Sirieix, general manager at Galvin at Windows and star of Michel Roux’s Service, who will be imparting his wisdom on creating the perfect service.
Additionally, the man behind successful restaurant chains including Pizza Express and Giraffe, Luke Johnson, will be on hand to talk about his businesses and the secrets to achieving hospitality business.
Restaurant critic, Fay Maschler, will be quizzed about the pleasures and pitfalls of her profession on the third day of he show.
Toby Wand, group exhibition director at Fresh Montgomery, said: “In keeping with proud Hotelympia tradition, The Stage will remain the hive of activity, debate and entertainment that it has always been, but at a time when the industry is still weathering the economic storm, we also felt it integral to invite the type of guests that could offer real quantifiable advice, help and support to those feeling the pinch.
