A ‘Steering Group’ of catering equipment brands is set to meet in London next week to debate common challenges around energy efficiency and to seek consensus on issues of supply chain responsibility.
The group is led by Hoshizaki but also includes Grande Cuisine, Rational and Wexiodisk. The aim of the meeting will be to define a clear roadmap of solutions, facilitating common purpose and highlighting a concise narrative of best practice for the benefit of the industry as a whole.
Last year Hoshizaki launched the ‘Equipped For The Future’ research report in collaboration with Footprint Intelligence and it concluded that there was a need to establish a facilitated group of senior executives representative of the whole supply chain, from manufacturer through to operator and beyond, that addresses issues of sustainability up and down the equipment value chain.
To kick off the debate, the four founding members will be joined by representatives from KEG Catering Consultants, BaxterStorey and CESA.
They will explore the factors preventing buyers from acting on instinct to ‘green’ their supply chain by choosing the most sustainable suppliers and equipment.
The objective is also to create concrete action such as collaboration between two or more organisations on a project culminating in a case study for industry to follow and to look to build on this in future meetings.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday 20 March at the Soho Hotel between 2pm and 4.30pm, followed by drinks and networking until 6pm.
