The Teapy T-4-1 combined mug lid and tea bag tidy will be one of three products featured on the new Channel 4 programme, Buy It Now, on Thursday 24 May from 5.30-6.00pm.
The show consists of new inventions and products being presented to an audience of consumers and then a panel of retailers.
While Buy It Now is aimed at domestic consumers, the Teapy T-4-1 invention for serving tea is also shown in the presentation, explaining why the manufacturer believes it makes consistently better tea, more economically, than teapot or open mug service.
T-4-1 is said to be suitable for individual tea service, coffee shops, cafés and canteens and can be used with a tagged tea bag, untagged tea bag or loose tea in an infuser.
Instead of a typical seven piece tea service (teapot, teapot lid, cup, saucer, teaspoon and milk jug, all on a tray), the Teapy T-4-1 has four pieces including a mug, teaspoon and a milk jug retained on the Teapy, with all four pieces held in one hand with the footprint of a single mug.
The T-4-1 is also claimed to enable quicker prep, safer carry and speedier table clearance, for table service, counter service or self-service.
Whereas the strength of tea in a teapot is not visible, changing from too weak to too strong, the transparent Teapy should enable brewing to the individual customer’s desired strength.
A special recess can contain a teaspoon and a tea bag string and, when Teapy is ‘flipped’ to act as a tea bag tidy, the special recess fits around the mug for transfer of the used tea bag or loose tea infuser with what is said to be no mess.
