Supplier offers easier route to upgrading equipment


Many cash-strapped catering organisations are finding they face a difficult dilemma. On the one hand they are keen to reduce their overheads, often combined with a desire to reduce their environmental impact.

On the other hand they may not have the capital funds available to invest in equipment that will deliver lower cost of ownership with improved environmental performance.

The answer, suggests Bob Littler of Porkka UK, is to finance the procurement of their equipment through a scheme that enables payments to be made from revenue budgets rather than capital budgets.

“A case in point is the new Inventus range of commercial refrigerators, rated as A+ for energy efficiency and available through an innovative leasing plan for just £2.61 per day,” he notes.

“This makes investment in energy-efficient equipment very affordable and with power consumption of just 0.97kW per 24 hours, improved thermal insulation and R290 refrigeration systems also addresses running cost and environmental concerns.”

Supplied with a choice of legs or castors, Inventus cabinets are available in three chassis sizes to accommodate GN 2/1 shelves in the width or depth, Euronorm sized shelves or bakery plates (400 x 600mm).

Operating temperatures for refrigerators range from -2°C to +12°C and there are also freezer models available with operating temperatures from -26°C to -15°C. All models can operate in ambient temperatures up to +43°C.

“A number of hygiene features also contribute to reduced cost of ownership. These include rounded corners, a one-piece dished floor pan and integrated shelf supports – all of which avoid dirt traps and facilitate deep cleaning,” Littler added.

Inventus cabinets are supplied with four tier stainless steel shelving as standard, mounted on anti-tilt moulded shelf runners. Foot pedal door opening is also available at no extra cost.

Easy-to-read digital temperature displays are combined with keyboard tamper protection, visual high/low temperature alarm and recording of max/min temperature. There are also in-built alarms for ‘door open’, probe failure’ and condenser cleaning.
