Stephensons passes 100,000 online orders milestone

Light equipment specialist distributor Stephensons has acquired a 13,500ft2 warehouse, after taking its 100,000th online order.

The Stockport-based dealer has just exceeded £10.7m turnover, and has grown 34% this year during a period of major change and expansion.

The warehouse will allow for bulk buying as well as higher levels of stock to be held at the Stephensons premises, a step which is aimed at improving service to the dealer’s customer base.

Staff numbers at the catering supplier have doubled since 2005, including the expansion of its customer services department from four to 10 staff members in 2015.

Demand from customers across the UK led the company to invest in an 18 tonne lorry, as well as a fleet of 10 vans, and its 2015 catalogue was the biggest to date, providing 1,923 new product lines.

Henry Stephenson, MD at Stephensons, said: “We have enjoyed major growth in 2014/15 and the benefits have been passed on to our customers. Online sales have reached an impressive milestone and the business has continued to grow.

“Stephensons’ customers know that to keep up with dining trends, it is essential to embrace the kind of innovations that we have been bringing to the UK market for nearly 150 years. The acquisition of the new warehouse is an exciting development that will help Stephensons continue its growth throughout 2016.”
