Northern Irish-headquartered distributor, Stephens Catering Equipment, has continued a 4-year streak of growing turnover, according to its latest financial results, publicly available on Companies House.
The Ballymena-based firm accrued a record £18.9m in revenue during the 12 months to 30 April 2019, a 5% uplift on the previous year’s £17.9m.
Likewise, operating profit increased by nearly 12% to £401k from the 2018 financial year’s £395k.
Accordingly, the firm’s headcount grew from 117 to 126 across its headquarters and branches in Belfast, Broughshane, Edinburgh and Glasgow. The distributor has a big presence in Ireland too, with offices in both Maynooth and Donegal.
The company’s board includes MD Paul Caves; sales directors Conrad Greene, Ian Manson and Colm O’Neill; and manager Julie Morrissey.
The directors stated in the report: “We are satisfied with the results of the company for the year, having continued to evidence increasing turnover. Gross profit margin has remained consistent with that achieved in the previous year.”
Looking ahead, they said: “The directors anticipate that the company will continue to trade profitably in the incoming year.
“The key risk to the business in the future relate to competition from other suppliers and the demand from the catering industry including government departments.
“The directors are confident that their customer service record is such that the company can compete successfully in the current economic climate.”
