Garland’s induction griddle has come up trumps at Northern Ireland’s top hospitality show after being put forward for an award by local distributor partner Stephen’s Catering Equipment.
The product overcame competition from 50 other foodservice products and services at IFEX 2014 to claim the ‘Overall Product of the Show’ accolade.
Ian Manson, sales director at Stephen’s Catering Equipment, said it was pleasing that the judging panel recognized the equipment for its energy efficient credentials.
“We are absolutely delighted that we won submitting the Garland Induction Griddle as the overall product of the show at IFE,” he said. “Induction technology is the future of cooking. It applies cooking energy on demand and when required, which reduces the overall energy costs for the customer.”
The Garland Induction Griddle features ‘Green Heat’, an advanced technology providing precise, instant and consistent concentrated heat, which is quick and efficient to use. Cooking with ‘Green Heat’ is sustainable and contributes to a cleaner and, ultimately, cooler kitchen due to a reduction in ambient heat.
Glyn Roberts, CEO of NIIRTA and Product of the Show judge, said: “The Garland Induction Griddle submitted by Stephen’s Catering Equipment is an extremely smart piece of technology. It’s a worthy winner for the Overall Product of the Show accolade due to its efficiency and green credentials, which includes delivering significant energy savings for food establishments.”
IFEX was a busy show for Ballymena-based Stephens. It supplied a lot of the kit for the La Parade des Chefs & The ChefSkills Theatre at the event, which it then sold off at discounted prices through a special auction at the end of the show.
