Tableware manufacturer Steelite International has introduced the Aurora range of reactive glazed tableware, which includes bowls, plates, teapots, mugs, cups, and saucers.
Each piece of the Aurora range is made to order and decorated by hand. By using two reactive glazes on each item, the range can create contrasting and sophisticated tonal looks that accentuate the creativity and artistry of modern cuisine.
Andrew Klimecki, VP of design at Steelite International, said: “To create the Aurora range, we have used the latest technology in glaze chemistry allied to traditional and skilled hand decorating techniques to create truly unique pieces. The result reflects the individuality and craftsmanship of the person that decorated it.
“The colours have been carefully chosen to enhance culinary artistry and amplify the effect of chef’s creations. We are excited to see the visual feasts enabled by this combination of food and tableware.”
The name Aurora is inspired by the Aurora Borealis. During firing, the subsequent mixing of two reactive glazes as they melt and fuse creates patterns that mirror those seen in the Northern Lights.
Aurora uses glazes from the existing Revolution and Vesuvius ranges to create an all-over glazed product. Aurora Revolution highlights contrasting colours, while Aurora Vesuvius is all about tone-on-tone.
The seven patterns comprise: Revolution Granite, Revolution Bluestone, Revolution Jade, Vesuvius Lapis, Vesuvius Burnt Emerald, Vesuvius Amber and Vesuvius Rose Quartz.
Steelite has worked on glaze development for over 15 years, innovating new products with coloured and reactive glazes to create pieces with artisanal individuality and the performance needed. Made in England, every piece of Steelite manufactured product is backed with a Lifetime Chip Warranty.
