Stangard profits from project purple patch

Kitchen design house and installer Stangard Design Solutions has got its new financial year off to a flying start by notching up more than £500,000 worth of contracts in recent weeks.

The company, which starts its year on June 1st, has secured several major projects in the contract catering sector, a market that accounts for 90% of its business.

This weekend it began installation work on a major kitchen refit at the Essex headquarters of motor giant Ford, which is understood to be valued at around £300,000.

Stangard liaised with Ford and its on-site caterer Eurest to conceive the new lay-out and is aiming to complete the project by mid-August.

“The project involves fitting out a new kitchen area on the ground floor and a refurbishment of the main food servery area,” confirmed Stangard’s design director Mark Harris. “Currently the main production unit is downstairs in the basement and we are actually shutting that down and moving everything up onto the same level as the food servery area.”

As well as creating the kitchen and servery blueprint, Stangard also designed of the interiors, including colour schemes and finishes.

The company’s project team is also busy with the fit-out of a new catering facility for a large customer in the defence sector, while next week the Gloucestershire-based firm will start work on a turnkey kitchen project alongside contract caterer Aramark at Haresfoot School in Berkhamsted.

“We have got off to a really good start for this financial year compared to the last one,” concluded Harris. “The economic climate has meant that some projects which were looking really good have been delayed, but other projects have come on board that we have put a lot of effort into trying to secure and that has paid off.”
