Standex shines with training initiatives

Standex Food Service Equipment is continuing to train engineers and technicians from the UK and overseas at its technical centre in Reading.

The latest recruit is Ron Creten, Technical Manager of the very well established Belgian dealer, Engelen – Heere.

Ron commented: “We are looking at BKI pressure fryers, merchandisers and rotisseries for the retail market in Belgium and it makes sense for us to understand the units fully so that we can sell with complete confidence. We have always believed in service availability before the sale.”

Standex’s Managing Director, Steve Loughton, welcomed Ron, stating: “Our plan is to increase sales in mainland Europe and what better way to start than with Engelen – Heere, which has over 50 years in business.”

Standex trained more than 70 technicians in 2011 and the success of the initiatives prompted the company’s Engineering Manager, Colin Martin, to film a series of “How To” videos, which explain basic cleaning and maintenance procedures on several popular items of equipment. These are available on the Standex web site and free for registered users to view, providing 24/7/365 access to this valuable knowledge.

Steve added: “Training is a vital part of what we do at Standex. Many retailers operate around the clock, so equipment downtime is unacceptable. If we can encourage simple housekeeping regimes, which lead to a PPM programme, we can ensure customers get the best out of their investment in our products.”
