Gas safety supplier S&S Northern has shored up an Oldham distributor’s new state-of-the-art demonstration kitchen by installing one of its interlock systems with built-in controller safeguards.
The company’s Merlin 1400 device has been put into Safeguard Group’s ‘Cookline’ facility, which serves as a location for chefs and customers to test out new equipment.
“The main reason we chose to install the Merlin 1400 is because of its high efficiency,” said Safeguard Group’s product sales manager Ben Ingham. “This, and the back-up facility, make it an exceptional and well thought out product. We are very satisfied with the Merlin 1400, it is very easy to install and really good to work on from an engineering point of view.”
Safeguard Group has been established for more than 25 years and supplies air conditioning, refrigeration and commercial catering equipment. Its clients include internationally-recognised chains like TGI Fridays as well as small local businesses. Last week the firm announced that it had become the regional North West and Ireland supplier for the Olis brand.
Safeguard’s full working ‘Cookline’ demonstration kitchen gives customers the opportunity to ‘try before they buy’ with its ranges.
With the new interlock system, the minimum and maximum electrical current is monitored so that the gas solenoid valve will not operate if the fans are not supplying or extracting sufficient air to and from the kitchen, or if the fans have overloaded.
Steve McMahon, managing Director of S&S Northern, said: “We have developed the Merlin 1400 to meet the needs of the market, especially for those customers who are looking for a space-saving and energy efficient product. The Merlin 1400 has been designed and manufactured in the UK by our own design engineers, with support from Lancaster University’s Engineering Department.”
