Sprint Group’s Becky Webley and her friends climbed Snowdon to raise funds for the Wavensmere Foundation.

Becky Webley, the finance department manager of Pershore-based distributor Sprint Group is raising funds for the Wavensmere Foundation in support of a little boy called Benjamin.

Benjamin is undergoing chemotherapy but is now in a 6 month isolation period before treatment begins again. Benjamin has been dreaming of a garden he can enjoy and the Wavensmere Foundation is aiming to raise £10,000 to help fund it.

Webley and her friends have raised over £9,200 by climbing to the top of Snowdon in aid of Benjamin and the Wavensmere Foundation, just £800 off the £10,000 target.

In 2017, Benjamin was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia at just 5 years old and has been battling ever since. Having had several rounds of chemotherapy, relapses and one successful bone marrow transplant, Benjamin is now at a difficult point in his journey.

Recently Benjamin’s family have had to make the heart-breaking decision to put treatment on hold and he therefore needs to shield at home for 6 months.

The Wavensmere Foundation and Benjamin’s parents say that: “Currently the garden is unsafe and not suitable for use, particularly for Benjamin who must be more careful than others. Wavensmere Foundation aims to clear the current garden, start from scratch and create a space in which Benjamin can get fresh air, exercise and improve his mental health and well-being through nature.”

Becky said that climbing Snowdon “was the most challenging, physical, painful yet hilarious experience to date, but worth every single step to help Benjamin along his difficult journey”.

Ross Ryan, director at Sprint Group, said: “We’re so proud of Becky and her friends and have supported her along the way. We wish Benjamin and his family the very best of luck.”
