Sous Vide Tools has added a sous vide thermometer and probe kit to its offerings.
The latest products can test the core temperature of sous vide food during cooking without compromising the vacuum seal.
The thermometer measures from -50°C to +199.9°C and, other than wiping it clean after use, is designed to be maintenance free.
To use, attach a piece of the foam tape included in the kit to the vacuum pouch and pierce the foam with the rubber-coated fine needle probe, reading the core temperature results off the digital LED display.
Injecting the foam tape should prevent the loss of vacuum pressure in the pouch so that cooking can continue as necessary.
The unit is also waterproof to IP65 standard, meaning the thermometer can be immersed in up to 1metre of water for 30 minutes without harm, should it be accidentally dropped into the water bath.
The sous vide digital thermometer, which has a low battery detection function and an auto-off capability, comes in a protective hard carry case alongside the 1.1mm diameter x 60mm long fine needle probe, 1metre of self-sealing foam tape and a temperature log book.
