Smeg drives catering equipment sales with double hire

Smeg has announced two new appointments to its commercial sales team as it looks to step up its presence in the catering equipment market this year.

The premium Italian domestic appliance and professional equipment manufacturer, which is based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire has made the investment in field sales staff to build on the work it has done in the commercial market over the past 12 months.

Martin Dawson has been appointed as southern regional sales manager and his role will involve growing the distributor market. He has previously worked for Axon Enterprises where he was responsible for developing key and national accounts in the south of the UK.

David Stokeld, meanwhile, has joined as northern regional sales manager. He has considerable experience within the hospitality sector having previously worked for Transworld (TSI), formerly Thompson Medd and Bunzl catering supplies.

Both will report to newly promoted commercial channel director, Phil Coulstock, who has been leading Smeg’s renewed strategy for the UK foodservice equipment market.

Mike Giddings, Smeg UK’s managing director, stated: “As an established manufacturer we are committed to investing and growing our professional cooking and warewashing business throughout 2015 and beyond. I’m pleased to welcome on board David and Martin to our expanding team to provide excellent regional representation to our customers across the UK.”
