Having designed, specified, manufactured and installed over £100m of commercial kitchens during the past decade, it’s safe to say that Shine Food Machinery is on a bit of a roll.
Headed up by MD Julian Shine since 1987, the Newport-headquartered distributor is continuing to build upon over 40 years of rich history, having been founded by Julian’s father John in 1974.
Shine looked back over the progress of the company, saying: “Since John established the business, our offer and target markets have changed continuously.
“At the outset our market aim was owner operators in restaurants, licensed trade, bakery and food production. As the chains took over we focused upon the direct labour and services market within local authorities.
“We saw this change again when direct labour and services organisations were disbanded in favour of the construction contracting route.”
It is precisely this adaptability which has seen the firm go from strength to strength, especially in recent years.
“We have experienced strong growth from the point at which the recession really affected our traditional market sector,” said Shine.
“At this time we made a conscious decision to diversify our customer base, our own manufacturers’ products and to concentrate on supply chain partnerships and create flexibility via process re-engineering.”
