Shine’s bright start to the year


Catering equipment distributor and kitchen designer Shine has seen 35% more contracts in the first quarter of the year than in the same period in 2014.

The Newport-based firm has a healthy public sector base, but it is private sector contracts that have shown the most dramatic upturn.

Private sector projects for Shine have tended to be for staff feeding facilities, especially within the centre of London where it is currently managing projects for Amlin Insurance, Hachette UK , Ogilvy and Mather and Clarksons Plc. Further projects have been gained in the care home and hotel and leisure sectors.

Chris Hinton, sales and marketing manager commented: “It must be comforting for the whole of our industry to see how quickly the market has recovered, not just with the quantity of projects available but with the variety and quality.

“We already have a 2015 order book which is in excess of last year’s and are currently in negotiation and development of future projects which will assist us in putting together a robust strategy for the company’s future.”

The projects it is taking on bring many challenges due to the fast track programmes which the company experiences, compared to traditional or design and build contracts. To manage these projects effectively it has invested in extra project management.

“We have bolstered the sales team and intend to invest in further sales personnel in the near future to deal with the ever increasing demand in enquiries,” Hinton reported.
