Newport-based distributor Shine Catering Systems has experienced a trade boost in 2021 that prompted it to expand its team.
This year the firm has therefore added a number of new positions into the organisation to support the level of growth and bolster the business development and project management departments.
The appointments include Shane Burchell as sales design manager; Simon Hawkes, as business development manager in the contract tendering department; Louise Ward as a PA to the project management team; Kia Jones as design co-ordinator, and three freelance project managers.
Recent projects that spurred this expansion included Coleg y Cymoedd college’s Ystrad Campus, the Gantry Hotel in Stratford, London and Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff.
Sales director Chris Hinton explained: “Having experienced an uncertain period during 2020, mainly due to site restrictions causing contract delays and suspensions, we have been more than pleased to see a sharp upturn in business in 2021 which is way beyond our expectancy and is heading back to pre Covid levels.
“It seems that our client base was lying dormant through the pandemic and the beginning of 2021 has resulted in a growing confidence to continue with developments and future plans. We are currently discussing a number of projects with our clients that are for 2023 and beyond which enables us to plan ahead in securing resource levels and budgeting.”
As for whether the distributor’s staff roster will expand even more, Hinton said: “Further plans have been agreed to increase these teams again in 2022 along with recruitment of Revit designers to meet the ever increasing demands of our clients. Recruitment is key to the progress of our organisation in the forthcoming years; hopefully we will be able to encourage people to join us on our journey.”
