Servicing and repair firm, Catering Equipment Specialists (NI), is to be voluntarily wound up, according to notices posted on the London Gazette website.
At a general meeting of the company held at insolvency specialist, Rachel Fowler Advisory, on 18 August, resolutions were passed, declaring: “That it has been proved to the satisfaction of this meeting that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business and that the company be wound up voluntarily.”
Rachel Fowler of Rachel Fowler Advisory was also appointed as liquidator for the purposes of the winding up.
This version of CES NI was established in March 2011 but it previously traded for over 100 years under different company names.
The company was first founded in Belfast in 1909 and traded for 50 years as W Gardiner plumber and gasfitter.
In 1959 the family-run company became W Gardiner & Sons Ltd and began to specialise in repairs to commercial catering equipment. Over the next 50 years the third generation of family members took over, brothers Ian and Peter Gardiner, who remained as directors until now.
Catering Insight reached out to the Gardiners but has not been able to contact them. The liquidator, Rachel Fowler, did not wish to comment on why CES NI is being wound up.
The servicing specialist took on warranty work, installation and repairs for major catering equipment manufacturers including Blue Seal, Falcon, Lincat, Rational, Victor Manufacturing, Electrolux, Hobart, Meiko, Robot Coupe, Merrychef, Dualit, Rowlett, Bravilor, Cona, Instanta, Lincat, Zip, IMC and Sissons.
