Scottish servicing firm, WD Catering Solutions, has provided a free repair to an Edinburgh-based charity called Empty Kitchen, Full Hearts.
At the beginning of this month, the company received a call from the charity, which helps to feed families that are in financial difficulty. Empty Kitchen, Full Hearts has gone from feeding 80 families to 180 in just over a week, thanks to the coronavirus crisis.
WD Catering Solutions director William Davies detailed: “They had a faulty oven and freezer so they would not have been able to feed the 180 families that day or the days thereafter.
“So after hearing their story and that all the chefs were volunteering as some of them had been let go by their employers due to the coronavirus, we decided to do the job for free.
“This was 120-mile round trip and our engineers came out of furlough to do the job.”
WD Catering Solutions repaired both the oven and freezer using parts from its van stock.
Davies commented: “This work will help 180 families a day to get breakfast, lunch and dinner. This makes us very proud – some things are more important than money.”
However, he was keen to emphasise: “The real heroes are the chefs at Empty Kitchen, Full Hearts. We were just glad to help in any way possible in these hard times.”
