ScoMac in hiring mode as it bids to sustain growth

ScoMac Catering Equipment is looking to recruit two senior sales staff with the skills and ambition to help the business exceed the £14m in sales that it achieved last year.

The 120-strong distributor, which is owned by Unitech Industries, says it has a “rare opportunity” for sales professionals to join its UK team and make their mark on the business.

Iain Munro, managing director of ScoMac, said it was looking to fill vacancies for a UK business development manager and a regional sales executive for Scotland as soon as possible.

“The BDM role is a new position which could develop into a more senior position as we see how the ScoMac keys accounts develop and ScoMac Express starts to expand into newer markets,” explained Munro.

ScoMac Express is the company’s light equipment and consumables divisions, which was boosted by the acquisition of Nugent’s in Northern Ireland last year.

The business development manager will be responsible for the support and development of new and existing national account clients, with the additional responsibility of maintaining relationships with the consultant community.

Munro said the ideal candidate would be someone with an already-established career who has involved dealing with multi-site operator clients or delivering high-value prestigious projects.

The regional sales executive role in Scotland, meanwhile, has arisen due to the retirement of Andy Mathieson.

“Andy previously worked for Stellex and E&R Moffat and was well-known to many distributor in the North and Scotland and most of the Scottish public sector clients,” said Munro. “We are very sad Andy has decided to take early retirement and wish him well.”

Munro said that ScoMac is looking to find a replacement to take responsibility for maintaining its existing client base of local authorities and public sector customers in Scotland.

“The area of operation will not be limited to any geographical area of Scotland or market sector and the role will require an element of creativity to ensure sales targets and margins are achieved,” he explained.

Munro said both positions come with a competitive salary, commission, fully expensed car (excluding private mileage) mobile phone and laptop.

ScoMac has five branches across the UK and manufacturing facilities in Scotland and the North East.
