Sales vacancies to spark jobs rush

Increased activity in the catering equipment job market over recent months is set to further peak in the New Year as the sector continues to recover from the recession.

That’s the verdict of specialist recruitment firm Cavendish Maine, which suggests the combination of companies expanding their workforce and people taking advantage of new vacancies opening up will ensure plenty of personnel movement from January onwards.

In its latest industry newsletter, the company said that an improvement in sales among companies in the catering equipment sector was beginning to translate into job creation as businesses look to build on their positions.

It stated: “From a recruitment perspective we have seen significant growth in the level of vacancies that we’ve taken on over the past year, particularly in the last six months, and are still working to capacity on behalf of clients who are looking to strengthen their sales team in preparation to exceed next year’s targets; all very encouraging signs that the commercial catering equipment sector is experiencing growth after the recession.”

Cavendish Maine said that it was currently a good time for companies seeking to fill positions to begin their search so that interviews can be done this side of Christmas or teed up for the first week in January.

It added that it regularly hears from a high volume of sales professionals in the first week to 10 days of January.

“They have had their end of year bonus, seen in the New Year and are looking for a new challenge. Generally, the strongest of these new candidates are placed in new roles by February in vacancies that we were made aware of in the December,” the company said.
