Rivals lock horns over tableware warranties

It would appear a battle is brewing between two of the largest volume suppliers of tableware over who can provide the most comprehensive warranty.

A month after Lockhart Catering Equipment revealed that its new Great White crockery range includes a five-year edge chip warranty, rival Nisbets has seemingly gone one better by announcing lifetime edge chip cover on selected lines.

The Bristol company said the offer applies to some of its most popular ranges, such as Olympia Whiteware and the bestselling Athena Hotelware porcelain series.

The warranty covers edge chipping only on products which are utilised under normal foodservice conditions, such as refrigeration, serving, washing and storage and are used in accordance with its handling instructions.

It does not apply to products that have been mishandled in use or any other type of breakage.

Nisbets says that claims are only valid when made by the original customer at the location stated in the original registration.

Under Nisbets’ terms, if it deems it necessary to inspect damaged product it will issue a replacement within four to six weeks and pay the associated shipping charges if the claim is valid.

While Lockhart’s Great White edge chip guarantee is currently capped at five years, it is offering a lifetime rim chip guarantee on every glass featured in its new Glacial glassware range.
