Regale strikes gold for microwave innovation

A commercial microwave cavity liner developed by Regale Microwave Ovens has been named ‘Innovation of the Year’ in a regional business awards ceremony.

Catering Insight reported last week that the Hampshire-based company had been shortlisted for the prize — and Regale was unveiled as the winner on Friday evening.

As well as landing the innovation prize, Regale finished runner-up in the SME Business of the Year category of the Portsmouth News Business Awards.

Patrick Bray, managing director of Regale Microwave Ovens and Cavity Protection Systems, said: “We were up against very strong contenders in both categories and were overwhelmed to come away with two awards. We had a fantastic evening and it was great to have such recognition for a product which saves the catering industry time and money.”

Regale developed the removable cavity liner as a way for operators to be able to clean microwaves with minimum fuss. The system can be pot washed and inserted back into the microwave in less than two minutes, saving time on cleaning and helping to reduce repair bills.

Bray added: “We’ve all worked hard to improve the awareness of the Cavity Liner over the years, and we’re looking forward to highlighting the benefits of the liner at Hotelympia.”
