Refrigeration dealer takes over rival’s business

A Darlington refrigeration dealer has acquired a local catering equipment distributor in a move that will mean it can now offer full commercial kitchen fit-outs.

CV Refrigeration, which is owned by the Country Valley Food Group, has taken over the business of Ray Clark Co., a Stockton-on-Tees-based outfit that has been providing kitchen and bar equipment for the past 25 years.

The merged company will employ seven experienced specialist staff, including Ray Clark as a consultant, to provide a more rounded service than CV refrigeration previously offered before.

Services will include new and used catering and refrigeration equipment, kitchen and factory design, installation, servicing and maintenance contracts.

“These new services integrate perfectly with our existing refrigeration business to provide a complete service for our customers,” said Andy Gaffney, general manager of CV Refrigeration.

It is also understood that a desire to compete more effectively against internet sellers was a factor in CV Refrigeration’s decision to expand the business through acquisition.

CV Refrigeration’s parent company, The Country Valley Foods Group, is one of the North East’s largest foodservice businesses, employing 130 people and supplying customers with locally sourced meat, chilled and frozen foods and dry goods.
