UK-based weighing equipment specialist Avery Berkel has bagged the largest ever order of its IM500 electronic hanging scales following a deal done by one of its main export partners in the Middle East.

Through Danway Emirates, the company sold 60 units to the Abu Dhabi Fishermen Cooperative Society to equip a huge new fish market that recently opened in the UAE capital.

Each product is fitted with WiFi units to allow communication with the centrally managed computer, ensuring all pricing, item descriptions and labels are accurate as customers buy.

Avery Berkel, which is owned by catering equipment giant ITW, overcame a tough bidding process to land the order.

John Green, export sales manager, said: “We are thrilled to see Avery Berkel equipment used. This is the single largest installation of Avery Berkel IM500s installed anywhere in the world, and it was a real team performance from our partner Danway Emirates, and its retail team of sales and service personnel.”

Avery Berkel appointed Danway Emirates as its premium partner for the distribution of branded retail products across the UAE last year and since then the companies have been working hard to increase the brand’s presence across the region.
