Design and installation company RDA was drafted in to revamp a tired VIP suite at the O2 Arena in London, famous for hosting the likes of Rihanna, The Rolling Stones and Monty Python Live.
The client was Compass – a major UK and Ireland catering and support services provider – and, as such, the brief was exacting.
The contract caterer stipulated that the existing self-serve minibar set-up be replaced with a fully-catered operation in order to significantly elevate the suite experience and reflect the exemplary standards of Levy’s wider catering operation at the O2.
RDA worked closely with CED Fabrications, which supplied and installed bespoke bar and food counters including gantry shelving complete with adjustable quartz heat lamps. The bespoke Corian countertop featured induction heat pads to ensure that the buffet unit was both aesthetically pleasing and operationally sound.
To deliver a quality finish, the design team also incorporated hand-made oak wall and ceiling features, premium fabrics and a butler’s sink for guests to chill their bottled drinks. The space also features parquet flooring, marble countertops and a striking neon sign.
RDA’s design director Nick Bradley commented: “Compass wanted a space that would allow them to showcase their portfolio of skills in food, drink and service standards, and this suite really delivered.
“This project demanded effortless, high-end style to offer a premium food and beverage experience to visitors – all without overlooking the space’s functional requirements.”
The suite brings the total number of projects RDA have been part of at the O2 to four, along with an executive-level Budweiser Bar – situated just outside of the Compass suite and exclusively available to suite-holders – an American Express premium hospitality lounge and a Nescafe Azera coffee shop.
