Rational has notified dealers that it is now unable to fulfil new orders for its iCombi Pro combi ovens for the rest of the year.
In a letter sent to the cooking equipment manufacturer’s distributor network, seen by Catering Insight, Rational UK’s representative wrote: “At the moment, despite great efforts in all areas, we cannot give an exact delivery date for existing orders. For new orders, we are currently anticipating that the iCombi will be delivered in Q1/2022.”
However, they emphasised: “There will be no restrictions for deliveries of service parts and accessories. For repairs and maintenance, all important service parts, accessories and care products are in stock. Minor delivery bottlenecks may occur only in exceptional cases, such as for special components.”
They detailed the current challenges facing the cooking equipment manufacturer and the rest of the supply chain, stating: “The hospitality industry is growing again and investing in the future. Demand for Rational cooking systems is also rising accordingly. There is also another challenge: as reported in the media every day, the global market is experiencing constant supply bottlenecks for processors. This means that our suppliers are also experiencing delays, which has a major impact on Rational’s usual short delivery times.”
Catering Insight approached Rational UK for further comment, with finance and administration director Michael Keeley responding: “It is an extremely fluid situation with the global shortage of processors, and Rational is in constant contact with our suppliers to continuously maintain the supply chain where possible.”
Earlier this year, FEA and EFCEM warned of supply chain issues hampering the foodservice industry recovery, while Catering Insight’s own investigation into distributors’ recent experiences demonstrated how concerned they were over equipment delays.
