Rational has produced a marine version of its flagship SelfCookingCenter whitefficiency combi steamer.

The German manufacturer says the system, which is suitable for passenger ships and other marine catering environments, addresses the challenges faced by cooking on rough seas.

In such circumstances, ships’ kitchen equipment has to meet stringent safety criteria.

With an emphasis on operator safety, Rational has made sure that all important functions can be used even on rough seas.

The marine version of the whitefficiency includes special features such as floor and wall fixings to prevent the unit from sliding or tilting, a flexible and adjustable door immobiliser, which holds the cooking cabinet door open, and special racks to secure cooking accessories to prevent them from sliding out.

Also, the outer glass of the cooking cabinet door can be protected against damage by a stainless steel grille.

The Rational marine version is certified by Germanischer Lloyd, a classification society dedicated to ensuring the safety of life and property at sea. It ensures the unit conforms to the most stringent quality, health, safety and hygiene requirements.
