Rational signs up for nationwide distributor backing at Kitchen & Equipment Awards

Rational has become the latest major catering equipment firm to lend its support to Catering Insight and Foodservice Equipment Journal’s Kitchen & Equipment Awards Week.

The combi oven manufacturer has once again backed the Distributor of the Year – Nationwide category, after supporting the honour since the first Catering Insight Awards in 2015.

The Kitchen & Equipment Awards Week initiative is aiming to ensure that best practice and excellence within the catering equipment and commercial kitchen industry still gets recognition in the absence of being able to put on physical awards events this year.

The awards programme will be a week-long celebration that sees the winners of each category announced on a daily basis via both publications’ YouTube channels throughout the week commencing Monday 30 November.

Rational UK and Ireland’s MD Simon Lohse welcomed the digital event’s concept: “Since the start of the pandemic Rational has embraced online activities such as webinars and product training. We really value the way advanced digital technology is helping us to maintain and enhance our customer communication. The world has changed and so must our industry. The Kitchen & Equipment Awards are part of that change. They are a fresh, original and safe way to recognise the successes and innovations of the industry.”

He emphasised: “We believe it’s more important than ever to celebrate achievements this year – so we truly welcome these awards and we are delighted to have the opportunity to support them. Since the lockdown in March there have been some remarkable accomplishments by companies throughout the industry, during what surely must be the most challenging market conditions. It’s more than fitting that we recognise and applaud them.”

In terms of Rational’s category backing, Lohse added: “Distributors are the lifeblood of the industry. We regard our distributors as more than partners, they are friends and colleagues. They are an integral part of our operation. Their support, hard work and commitment are essential to our success – never more so than during 2020. In fact, this is the sixth year running that we have sponsored the Distributor of the Year Nationwide, and we are proud and pleased to do so again. The very best of luck to everyone who enters!”

Those who do want to enter a nomination only have a week left, with the deadline fast approaching on Friday 9 October.

Companies and individuals can nominate their own businesses or other parties for an award – nominators will always remain anonymous though.

Third party entries have already been particularly high, indicating how keen the industry is for some of the great (and often unseen) work that has gone on throughout the pandemic to be recognised.
