“We can handle it,” is the message from manufacturer Rational in the face of reported worries from catering equipment dealers getting set to place an unprecedented number of orders to cope with an increasingly buoyant market.
As the likely peak period approaches in August, some dealers are getting apprehensive about whether demand will outstrip supply.
“Obviously Universal Free School Meals is a factor, but it’s more than that – every sector of the market is on the up,” says Lee Norton, Managing Director of Rational UK. “It’s not just in hospitality, either. Demand is also up in markets such as butchers and bakers.
“We’ve already made arrangements to ensure we can fulfil the higher number of orders expected pre-September, but some dealers are still concerned. Every day I’m getting calls asking for reassurance that orders placed in the next month or two will be fulfilled in the usual timescales.
“Categorically, we can handle it.”
The apprehension is understandable, says Norton, given that Rational supplies more than 50% of the combi steamers in the UK.
“Demand is even higher, due to the launch of the new Rational combi steamer, the SelfCookingCenter 5 Senses but all our dealers can rest assured that we will continue to deliver on time – typically within 10 working days of the order being placed.
“We’d also like to thank all our dealers for their support – we very much appreciate their hard work and the marvellous sales figures they are generating.”
