Automatic software updates bring ovens in line with phones and computers

Rational to showcase iVario at NRB2022 crop

Combi oven manufacturer Rational has informed dealers that automatic software updates for both its iVario and iCombi Pro cooking systems, as well as for older unit generations, are now available as an option – with just a click of a button.

Adam Knights, marketing director at Rational UK, said that for a long time smartphones and computer automatic software updates have been taken for granted. Now it is also a given for thermal cooking systems.

“If the units are networked and connected with our digital kitchen management platform ConnectedCooking, new software versions will be suggested for installation directly on the units.”

Users can confirm if they require the new versions and then run the update automatically, which according to Rational, takes just a few minutes. Benefits include new and improved functions – one of them being security updates.

Knights added: “All new software versions now include a new security certificate that meets the highest data and network security standards.”

The ConnectedCooking platform offers digital access to Rational cooking systems via smartphone, tablet and PC and in addition to the automatic software update, it also allows the digital management of cooking programs and HACCP data. This can simplify work processes and users save time and money and can be sure that the units are always up-to-date.

Rational is offering this service to its customers free of charge.
