Rational aims for 10% rise in build volumes

Rational has revealed that strong uptake of its SelfCookingCenter whitefficiency combi oven has led it to raise its production targets.

The company is currently building around 250 units a day, but is eager to increase that by at least 10% if demand keeps up.

“Demand has been staggering,” said Rational’s Lee Norton. “We’ve increased production capacity by 40% to keep pace with incoming orders. The average production was around 180 units per day before we launched the new model. Right now we are manufacturing 250 units a day and our target is 275.”

The SelfCookingCenter whitefficiency is one of six products shortlisted in the equipment category of Hotelympia’s Innovation Awards.

Rational claims chefs can load 30% more food into the same size cooking cabinet compared to conventional combi ovens while achieving a 70% energy reduction versus conventional cooking appliances.

Last month we revealed that Rational had landed 10,000 orders for the unit within the first seven weeks of its launch at the end of last year.
