Putting the right pressure on espresso service

Coffee Omega UK has launched PuqPress, an automatic tamper for barista operated coffee machines to ensure the espresso is always tamped to the right pressure eliminating hit and miss quality in coffee service.

The little machine makes oblique tamping a thing of the past according to Coffee Omega UK Managing Director Abdul Rokib who says it also quicker to use the PuqPress (1.3 seconds a tamp) than to do it manually.

“A change of personnel shifts will no longer affect the quality of the espresso.

"The pressure can easily be set between 10-30 kg using the controls at the back of the device. The display shows the pressure at which the tamper is set,” he says.

The PuqPress has a clamping mechanism that can be used with all types of portafilters while the tamper is customised specially for the operator’s type of portafilter.

PuqPress fits between the coffee bean grinder and the espresso machine.

The company is now looking for distributors to take PuqPress to market.
