Mark Curry has now left Prestige Catering Equipment for semi-retirement.

Mark Curry, the founder of Northampton-based dealer, Prestige Catering Equipment, has exited the business.

The former MD is heading into semi-retirement for personal reasons. He detailed in a posting on LinkedIn: “I have very mixed emotions but I’m looking forward to start a new chapter in my life.

“It has been a crazy journey over the years from starting out in a £60 van and a £200 second-hand laptop. My workshop was a rented garage that had no running water and the toilet was a bucket!”

Curry established Prestige in 2011, and in 2018 the company was acquired by Dunstable-based Advance Group.

He further paid tribute, writing: “My incredible team at Prestige you have been my backbone over the years and I am forever grateful for all you have done and the sacrifices you have made for company.

“Thanks to the Advance team for putting up with me over the last 2 years I wish you all the best.”

Curry also thanked team members at major supplier brands the dealer has worked with, including Maidaid, First Choice Group, Rational, Welbilt and Blue Seal.

Prestige developed a number of high profile service contracts in the local market, including at the Silverstone racetrack, Le Manoir and at a number of county council schools.

Catering Insight spoke to Advance’s chairman, Steve Coates, who said: “It’s business as usual at Prestige. We are looking forward to serving all our customers when they are back up and running.”
