Precision Refrigeration has temporarily closed its factory as a safety measure in the face of the outbreak of COVID-19.

“Due to the rapidly evolving situation surrounding COVID-19, and for the safety of all our employees, we have taken the tough decision to close our factory today until further notice,” stated managing director Nick Williams.

“The situation is constantly changing, but as of now, we have kept on a small number of staff to help meet the needs of our customers, whilst taking all the necessary precautions to protect our team.”

Williams said the company is still able to accept orders and make shipments, but its manufacturing capability will be severely reduced until such times as it is safe to fully re-open the factory.

He added that only 5% of the manufacturing operation was running to its usual capabilities, but that it wasn’t expecting any shortage issues due to the volume of inventory it has built up.

“We have healthy stocks of finished products, so we are in a good position to meet any demand you have during these difficult times,” he added.

Only last summer Precision celebrated the completion of its new £250,000 manufacturing facility. Read Catering Insight‘s coverage below:
