Precision boosts overseas sales prospects

British refrigeration manufacturer Precision has struck a deal with Technical Supplies & Services Company (TSSC) that will see its products sold in the United Arab Emirates.

The Dubai-based distributor intends to kick off the business partnership in style by launching Precision’s refrigerated wall cabinets at the forthcoming Gulfood 2012 show. The units offer practical wall mounted refrigerated storage, especially when space is at a premium.

TSSC will also showcase Precision’s gastronorm cabinets and counters, as well as back bar refrigeration, in a variety coloured stainless steel options.

Precision Refrigeration is owned by Nick Williams — son of Williams Refrigeration founder Mike — and manufacturers its products in Thetford, Norfolk.

Williams recently told Catering Insight that being able to build its products domestically had helped it double the size of the business over the past three years.

“We are finding that is not actually a bad thing because manufacturing in the UK is not particularly expensive, especially when you take into the account the shipping time and the fact that people don’t want to wait that long for a fridge to arrive,” he said. “With a lot of the projects, the delivery times we are given are a maximum of four weeks and then maybe the customer will want something a little bit special or some extra drawers or a different top and counter, which is impossible to do when you are far away.”
