Portable kitchen specialist PKL Group is now turning over close to £18m a year, the company has revealed after publishing its financial results.
The Cheltenham-based outfit said that for the year to the end of April 2012, sales grew 6% to £17.8m. It also said EBITDA climbed 10% to £5.8m, although it did not disclose its net result.
PKL said sales had been helped by its involvement in major projects in the UK and around the world, notably supplying kitchens and catering equipment to the London Olympics.
It also said that half of its revenues had come from repeat business.
Michael Bailey, chairman of PKL, said: “As we approach our 25th anniversary in 2013, the next 12 months will see the company building on the success of the London Olympics and from overseas contracts, leveraging opportunities from this increased market presence. We will continue to target the UK’s education, health and leisure sectors to realise the full potential of the KitchenPods and Food Cube ranges as well as our contract hire offering, KitchenFM.”
PKL delivered 7,500 items of catering equipment to more than 150 different kitchen locations during the London Games, which represented the fourth Olympics that it has been involved in.
Sales of its KitchenPod pre-assembled kitchens also proved a success story for the company, with one public sector client placing an order for 63 pods.
PKL added that the provision of a catering facility in Ghana and two other projects in West Africa had been the main highlights for its international business in the past year.
PKL claims to operate the largest hire fleet of its kind in the world, with 900 portable kitchens and 10,000 items of catering equipment for hire.
