Pentland move signals big plans

Pentland Wholesale's finances are holding steady.

Pentland Wholesale has finished merging the three sites it has worked from over the past 10 years into a 56,000ft2 site on Walker Park, Blackburn.

This features state of the art warehousing facilities and doubles the firm’s warehousing space, allowing it to expand its range in the future. The expansion of the warehouse will also allow the company to enhance its stockholding capabilities, meaning that it will be able to offer high volumes of stock for immediate despatch.

The refrigeration and catering equipment importer has outgrown the previous facility and wanted to bring its activities and workforce under one roof, in order to ensure a seamless experience for customers when dealing with the business. Pentland expects the move to increase efficiency too.

The opening of the new facility comes at a time when the company is experiencing strong growth. 2014 sales increased by more than 20% compared to the previous year, with the firm implementing a series of strategic changes, including a new showroom displaying the latest Mafirol counter systems and a trade counter for Pentland parts.

At the same time, Pentland has refreshed its branding with a corporate makeover and new logo. It has also published its latest 236-page product catalogue featuring its full 2015 portfolio.

Pentland is looking to build upon the recent investment by carrying out a number of further planned expansion activities. Its range of Blizzard refrigeration products will increase significantly over the coming years, and it is strengthening its trade counter further by partnering with Hawco and offering its full range of products. In addition, it is increasing its own range of Vanstox parts for the catering and refrigeration industry.

The wholesaler intends to deliver further value to the market by introducing distributor training days, enabling distributors to train their staff on Pentland’s range of equipment. It will also be encouraging distributors to use its showroom for their customers, enabling hands-on experience with the equipment.
