Pentland locates new premises

Pentland Wholesale now owns fellow supplier CEP.

Pentland Wholesale is merging its three existing Blackburn locations on the Whitebirk Industrial Estate by moving into one 56,000ft2 warehouse in nearby Walker Park. The site includes 5,745ft2 of offices.

The refrigeration and catering equipment importer has outgrown its current facility and wanted to bring its activities and workforce under one roof. It hopes the move will increase efficiency as well as doubling its warehouse space, allowing it to expand further. The firm has grown rapidly, with 2014’s sales increasing by over 20% compared to the previous year.

“The new premises is much larger, purpose built distribution facility,” said Dean Simpson, the firm’s operations director. “It has a container loading area, which is rare in this locality. This was our main requirement as we receive up to 10 40ft containers per week.

“The location is very convenient, just off junction 5 of the M65. The new facility will include a great new equipment showroom and a trade counter for Pentland parts. The showroom will now allow us to host customer days where they can meet all our staff and view the products in one location.”

It was important for Pentland to find a location in the Blackburn area to ensure staff retention, as all employees are local residents. The Pentland Group also has a large warehousing facility on Walker Park, distributing other Pentland brands.

Pentland Wholesale is due to complete the move in May.
